Twitter Tip: Follow Your Fans

I know some of you are like WHAT?  “I’m the artist.  They should follow me.”  While having a lot of followers on twitter is good, it’s great when they’re actual fans and interested in what you’re doing.  So, take some time to identify your ideal fan.  Think about what they do, where they hang out, how much money they make/spend, what they talk about.  Then, follow them.  Engage in a conversation.  Then, they’ll follow back.  Since you’ve established that relationship with them, they will listen and buy your music.  They’ll attend your concerts, watch your youtube videos, and support your career.  This is the best way to follow people on twitter.  Just to blatantly follow people for numbers is a waste of time.  Quality, most times, trumps quantity.  So, try it out.  Happy Fan Finding!
