Typically, you’re at your vocal in your late 20’s or during your 30’s. Your chance of getting to this point is increased with vocal lessons. I saw an award show last night where one act should have been a prime example of this, but it was clear that wasn’t the case. Many of you want to be on stage constantly in front of your fans until you’re old and gray. That’s definitely possible, but you’ve got to take the proper steps. Barbara Streisand, Patti Labelle, and others are still doing what they love because they have vocal coaches helping to keep their voice in tip top shape. At this point, I urge you to make a decision about your vocal career. Where has it been? Where is it now? Where do you want it to go? If you’re serious about singing, stop making excuses and get vocal lessons. They’re affordable and necessary. Remember, this is your life. You are responsible for your success. Since this is supposed to be your passion, go all out. Do everything in your power to be at your vocal best to get the vocal results you desire! You have no idea if they’ll judge, what they will say, how they will look at you....etc, etc, etc. As a performer, it’s important to be transparent and open while singing. Your audience will feel what you feel. It’s ok to be emotionally open while singing. Focus on the lyrics. What type of story are they telling? What picture are they painting? Focus on that, and you’ll take your audience on a journey. When people hear a song, they normally continue listening because it makes them feel a certain way. Maybe the song reminds them of something that they went thru.....If you don’t allow yourself to go there, they won’t feel that way, and you’ll fail to establish an emotional connection. Without that, your shows will dwindle, your music won’t sell, and you’ll be singing in vain. So, focus on the vocals, stage presence, & BE VULNERABLE! Album Campaign: http://www.indiegogo.com/dileesahunter So, the good news is that you already have the audience's attention when you're on stage. That's the easy part. The challenge is to keep it and captivate them. While you're performing, make eye contact with your audience. It's the same as if you were conversing with them. You wouldn't talk and look down. If someone is speaking or you're speaking to someone, direct eye contact is made. If the song is about happiness, be sure to smile. Smiling normally means that one is happy, content, filled with joy.....If the song is sad, express that. Go to a moment where that song would fit and tell your audience the story. You're not the only one that experiences those moments. Conveying the right emotions will hook your audience, taking them back to a time when they experienced those same feelings. There's a good chance someone is experiencing this now, and you could be their therapy. Find a way to get over your nerves, and be confident. Finally, have fun. Doing a combination of all the things will certainly win over your audience and pull 'em in to your performance! Download your singing product at http://www.dileesahunter.com/products.html |
