Typically, you’re at your vocal in your late 20’s or during your 30’s.  Your chance of getting to this point is increased with vocal lessons.  I saw an award show last night where one act should have been a prime example of this, but it was clear that wasn’t the case.  Many of you want to be on stage constantly in front of your fans until you’re old and gray.  That’s definitely possible, but you’ve got to take the proper steps.  Barbara Streisand, Patti Labelle, and others are still doing what they love because they have vocal coaches helping to keep their voice in tip top shape.  At this point, I urge you to make a decision about your vocal career.  Where has it been?  Where is it now?  Where do you want it to go?  If you’re serious about singing, stop making excuses and get vocal lessons.  They’re affordable and necessary.  Remember, this is your life.  You are responsible for your success.  Since this is supposed to be your passion, go all out.  Do everything in your power to be at your vocal best to get the vocal results you desire!

The voice isn’t a typical instrument.  You can’t go and buy a new one if it breaks.  Pay attention to vocal injuries and symptoms that can stunt your vocal growth.  Vocal cord nodules are non cancerous growths caused by vocal abuse.  Some symptoms include hoarseness, breathiness, a scratchy voice, etc.  Many of you have heard of the singer Adele's vocal issues that have landed her in the OR. Her condition, hemorrhaged vocal chords, come as a result of the physical stresses of the voice.  Hoarseness in the speaking voice that develops over a short period of time is biggest sign of this condition.  Vocal cord paralysis is the inability of one or both cords to move.  Extra effort in speaking and  excessive air pressure needed to produce the normal conversation voice are just a couple of the symptoms.  My goal isn’t to make you sad or scared.  I want you to be aware of the problems so you can always have your best voice. We are wishing nothing but the best and a prosperous singing career for Adele. Tea, honey, lemon, and non menthol cough drops are your best friend. Using these things will promote good vocal health.
